I created this Lorikeet using coloured pencils on heavy black paper. I love using texture in my work and the pencils are perfect for this, whilst the black paper adds drama and contrast. I used light and dark to shape the eyes and feathers, bringing them to life.  His head has a slight tilt as though he's listening to what you're saying. The orange eye shines and really pops against the vibrant blue.
